Relax! A National Answering Service Has You Covered…

Finally – June is here!  School is wrapping up for the kids and most adults are national answering service says relaxfinalizing vacation plans or at least scheduling some long weekend getaways  within the next few months.  Summertime is a welcome annual ritual on a national scale, and some of our best memories of friends and family are created during these warmer months.

However, for those of us in the working world, time off can create a different kind of stress.  After all, deadlines still need to be met, work projects keep moving and service to clients or patients cannot be diminished just because you’re finally able to take a little time off.  Relaxing on vacation is much harder to do if you carry those concerns with you or worse yet, if you are dialing into the office during your vacation time.

Addressing Critical Needs

As a national answering service, we work best with organizations who understand the importance of managing client expectations, especially when there is a critical need.  Physicians, property managers, trade professionals and other high-touch client service organizations have a mission critical need to be responsive to their clients or patients on a 24/7 basis.

These organizations are typically small and mid-sized businesses or teams, so when just one member of the team takes some vacation time, the added burdens on the rest of team can be intense.  To reduce that burden, smart business practices work with quality resources, like a good answering service, to ensure client expectations are met and exceeded consistently, regardless of when team members take a break.

Build the Confidence to Let Go

Everyone needs some time off to ‘recharge the batteries’ and disconnect from their work lives.  Doing this on occasion helps you come back with renewed energy, better focus, and more creativity to overcome work challenges yet many of us get so connected to our work, it becomes difficult to let go.  If this sounds familiar, you should take a few extra steps before your time off this summer.  Well ahead of time, write down a short list of the priorities you want to accomplish before your time off, and the expectations you have of the team while you are out.  Share this with your team, and let them know you are handing off the list to them when you leave.  The physical act of ‘handing off’ the list helps reinforce in your mind that those items are now other people’s responsibilities while you take your break.

This technique may sound basic to some, but it is effective.  The key is to think about the family and friends you will be with during your vacation.  You are on vacation to spend time and make new memories with them, and they will not be happy if you are distracted by your work.  To be fair to your family, friends and yourself build the confidence to let go of your work life for a little while; it will be better for all in the long run!
